DIGICEL SPONSORED TEAM WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS SOCCER SURINAME

Inter Moengotapu, the football club from our bauxite city Moengo has concluded the SVB -Digicel Premiere League competition with a victory of 2-1 over Transvaal. Yesterday they received their trophies from Digicel Suriname CEO, Philip van Dalsen. The winning goals came from the players: Claudio Pinas and August Adjoeba of Inter Moengotapu and Orfeo Brondenstein for Transvaal. It turned out to be a very exciting game in the Franklin Essed stadium where Transvaal was the dominant team in the first half of the game. The hard work of Transvaal was rewarded when Orpeo Brondenstein broke through the defense of Inter Moengo Tapu and scored 1-0 against Inter Moengotapu. At about 21.00 hrs there was a short power failure interrupt which was solved shortly afterwards. In the second half Inter Moengotapu improved their game and made clear that they are worthy of the championships title. Inter Moengotapu kept on pushing for the equalizer. Their efforts finally paid off when Claudio Pinas scored the fist goal for Inter Moengotapu. Not long after August Adjoeba was able to shoot the ball from a corner ball right alongside Tranvaal’s keeper Aloema straight into the net. With the score now being 2-1, Inter Moengotapu sealed their victory. Digicel Suriname, sponsor of the Premiere League and of Inter Moengo Tapu also made some money prizes available. The Champions team goes home with US$ 3500,-. The winning team of the first class competition, Randjiet Boys, received US$ 1000,- and the semi-champion of the Premiere League will receive a money prize of US$2000.
