Digicel Suriname makes internet accessible for students
April 27th 2011 - Learning CenterToday Digicel Suriname opened the first Digicel Learning Center in Suriname.
CEO of Digicel Suriname, Hans Lute and the Minister of Education, Raymon Sapoen, officially launched the Digicel Learning Center by cutting the ribbon in presence of many guests and media members. Through the Centre, which is located in the heart of Paramaribo, Digicel Suriname offers free internet to students and therefore makes information accessible to those whose parents cannot afford computer- and internet facilities.
The Minister of Education, Raymon Sapoen, was very pleased with the learning Center and stated that it is the first time that Surinamese youth get such an opportunity without government funding.
“The Digicel Learning Center fits in well with the government policy of making ICT accessible for everyone and I hope that other private companies will follow the good example which is set by Digicel. I thank Digicel for this great initiative”, states Sapoen.
