DIGICEL SURINAME ENSURES EMPLOYEES A SAFE & HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
Ten Digicel Suriname employees successfully passed a two day COMPANY AID EMERGENCY PLAN training. The purpose of this training was
- the prevention, restriction, illumination and treatment of calamities, fire and accidents
- know how to act in case of calamities, fire or accidents
- taking care of the purchasing and maintenance of equipment that is necessary to deal with emergencies
- Contribute to the safety and well being of employees, visitors and other persons who have an interest in a safe working environment.
“We take the safety of our employees very seriously. Not only have we trained a select group to alert and coordinate the evacuation of employees and visitors in case of an emergency, but we have also trained the total staff in fire prevention”, says Taina Haarloo, HR manager of Digicel Suriname.
“Digicel Suriname’s management is aware that a fire or an accident can happen any moment. In the worse case even the need to evacuate. That’s why it’s good to know that there is an in-house team that is trained, capable and organized to give first aid” Taina Haarlo continues.

The training was conducted by Arnold Halfhide of the SECURICO company. Besides the theoretical knowledge, the participants also experience the practical way in the Digicel office. Many situations were simulated in order to prevent any casualties.
